29er Sailors,

On the 15th of May the class is hosting an assessment day in order to fulfil the required ranking system, as requested by the International Class, for the World and European Championships.

In recent days some sailors have made contact asking if they can attend this session as they had heard about it second hand, and it was miss communicated as an ‘event’.

Unfortunately due to current Covid 19 restrictions we cannot host events yet, and this is not an event. It was also not advertised as it is not designed to be open to all class members, but rather just those who had at this stage, formally committed to attending the World and European Championships. Then out of these responses the need grew to have the assessment day, so again it was only open to these few boats involved.

The need for us to determine the ranked placings for the World Championships was removed when the number of teams who wished to attend this event as a first preference fell to two teams, so both those teams have been offered a place.

It is also worth noting that at current the Europeans entry has gone live and is open to all teams, with no ranking or restriction in place. So anyone can currently enter the event. This ranking is only to be used as a type of back up, should the International class later need to reduce numbers to conform with Covid-19 regulations.

Thank you.
