Just a quick reminder that the Irish 29er class association needs to know at this early stage, those of their members that are fully committed to attending either the Worlds and/or the Europeans by 19th April.

Although we understand that it’s very early in the season and there are many unknowns ahead of everyone, the event organisers have requested sailor details by mid-May to help with preparation and expectations. As part of this, the Irish 29er Association needs to know as soon as possible the number of committed parings in order to conclude what, if any, the next steps need to be on our side – particularly if there are more committed pairings than can be accommodated, should a restricted event scenario arise.

So, if you definitely plan to go to either of these events (even though entry to the Europeans is not yet open) you must email secretary@irl29er.com by the deadline of 19 April. We fully understand that from a sailors perspective, that there is huge amount of uncertainty to committing to any plans at this stage, and many sailors may want to hold off, especially as the class has always implemented a policy of no capping on the entry number during ‘normal’ times. So rather than try to point out all of the options and paraphrase the key points that have already been well documented, we would encourage our members to visit the event web site where you will get a better explanation of the facts and potential outcomes, and please get back to us if you have anything that you cannot get a satisfactory answer to.

Thank you for your help in this matter.
