We are all looking forward to the season ahead and hopefully there will be a lot of fun to be had in the 29er class. The National situation is starting to improve thankfully and, as the vaccine programme rolls out, there seems to be increasing optimism. We are looking forward to the season which includes the Festival of Speed in Ballyholme in June, our own Nationals in Cork in July and, later on, the 29er Eurocup event in September.

For the purposes of preparing for every eventuality, the International Association have identified that there MAY be constraints on numbers for the Worlds in Denmark (30 July – 8 August) and Europeans (23 August to 31 August). They are at pains to say that they will do all they can to keep the events completely open (as they always have) and it will only become an issue if the host Nations’ Governments put general numerical constraints on gatherings.

We appreciate that it is still very early in the season and there is a huge amount of uncertainty not only in terms of travel and logistics but also potential quarantine situations. However, to help the governing body with forward planning, should any restrictions have to be imposed, we would ask that any of the current Irish Class members with confirmed pairings that have fully committed to attending either/both of these events, please enter the event (when the appropriate entry is open) and forward details of the event(s) that you propose to attend to secretary@irl29er.com by 19th April.

Please note that when you enter an event, that your entry will be classified as ‘waiting’ as a determination on numbers and available slots cannot yet be made.

More information on the current situation can be found on the International Class Web site.
